Manual J calculations are used to correctly size HVAC systems. A Manual J calculation is imperative when building a new home or upgrading an existing home.

Far too often HVAC systems that are installed exceed the building? needs by 50 to 100 percent; this results in increased first cost and increases the utility bills over the life of the system.

For new construction a set of plans is all that is required to prepare a Manual J calculation; the need for existing buildings HVAC system upgrades can determined during an energy audit at which time the required building data will be collected on-site.

Once plans have been drafted the goal is to ensure the construction team is properly installing everything. Some of the techniques incorporated into a ?reen building are still developing and as with everything there is a learning curve required to reach perfection.
